Pets Name: Sir Wynnstan Breed: English Springer Spaniel Age: 3 Coloring: Liver/white Biography: Wynnstan is a very special dog in my life. I have in the past, and still do, rescue many animals. However, Wynnstan has rescued me. Shortly before my daughter, Tiffany, passed away, she bought this puppy who was identical to the springer that was part of our family for many years. She then handed him over to me to care for. After her death, I realized that she wanted me to have Wynnstan as a reminder of our wonderful years together. He has been such a comfort to me. When I hug Wynnstan, I sometimes feel like I am hugging Tiffany again. |
Pets Name: Charlie Breed: Morgan gelding Age: 28 Coloring: Bay with black mane and tail Biography: Charlie is kind and gentle and loving. He follows us around when we go out to work in the pasture like a herding dog would. We laugh when the veterinarian or farrier says to go "catch him" because all you have to do is call him and he comes. He has never bitten or kicked any human or dog (donkeys, maybe) and only ever threw a rider once (she deserved it.) We are so very lucky to have him in our lives. We were horse dummies when we first got Charlie, and he had just turned four years old. Some people said it was a mistake to get such a young horse when we were so inexperienced. But it must have been fate - not only was he the perfect horse from the start, he managed to teach us all we needed to know to take care of him. |
He raised us to be good horse owners. That was 25 years ago. Charlie is now over 28 (and doesn't look a day over 15). How can we be lucky enough to have only owned one horse through all these years, and have him be the ideal horse? We don't think it was luck. Charlie's favorite treat recipes include molassass and peanut butter. His best pasture friend is Donkey Ote, a wild burro from Death Valley who relocated to Ohio when he was a weanling. Charlie hopes that all the horses who need homes will find people who love them as much as his do him. |
Pets Name: Yahtzee Breed: Golden Retriever Age: 10 Coloring: Red/Gray Biography: Yahtzee is truly a character! He came to us through Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue, first as a foster dog at our daughter's home. He had been placed, but returned several times. What others found undesirable, I found endearing. He does have a slight "crazy look" and still exhibits "puppy bursts", but most of all he is a thief stealing any and all shoes left within his sight. He doesn't destroy them, he just wants to carry them around until you chase him to get htem back! |
