Meet Our Friend Jack |
Horse Info: Jack was part of a neglect case and was moved around in foster care for several years until the courts awarded the local humane society custody of the horse. Jack is thought to be a Haflinger cross. He is a short and sturdy gelding, measuring in at just around 14 hh. He is strong enough to support an adult rider; however, he is not currently broke to ride. He has been evaluated with natural horsemanship exercises and performed very well. He seems to understand concepts such as "Join Up" and "Parelli Games". He is eager to learn and enjoys the company of people. He is in good health with wonderful conformation and great hooves. Jack will need an experienced horse person or someone willing to work with a trainer. We currently have volunteers working with Jack in hand and he is doing great. He really seems to respond well to kids, but will still require additional training before being put under saddle. The ground work has paid off with this little guy. We are ready to start working him from the ground, saddled. He doesn't flinch or move at all when you lie across his back, jump up and down next to him or throw a leg over him. He is willing and ready. |
