Meet Our Friend Emma
Horse Info: String of Diamonds, also known as Emma, arrived at Circle P Sanctuary on December 28, 2008. Since her arrival she has been learning to relax and is getting use to her new surroundings. She is still young at heart and has lots of energy. She stands at 17.3hh (she has a high wither) and is such a gorgeous mare. She has quite the resume, too. At a young age, she started her 1st career racing at the track. Unfortunately, racing did not suit her as she lacked the speed necessary to win. After her career ended in racing, she went on to jumping where she competed at top level events in Florida. Later, Emma became a schoolmaster at a riding facility in Ohio. Emma has had some chiropractic work since she arrived at Circle P Sanctuary and is moving much better.
Emma did great in our rehabilitation program. After evaluations it was determined that she is very intelligent and is a perfectionist. She knows leg yields; turn on the haunches, flying changes and much more. She would do best with someone that may not have the time to ride as often as they'd like. Unlike a young horse that requires a lot of time and patience, Emma isn't going to be a challenge to ride if only ridden a couple times per week. She is actually so well educated she could teach an Intermediate rider a thing or two. It took Emma a while, but she is now relaxed enough to enjoy all day turnout with a large herd of horses. She is not an easy keeper and can loose weight fast, so she will always require grain, supplements and special care to remain sound enough to ride.
