Meet Our Friend Belle
Horse Info: Belle is a Humane Society seizure case. She
had been stalled almost constantly for a period of six and a
half years. At her rescue, she was filthy from having to live
in an unclean stall and her hooves were extremely
outgrown.
Since coming to the Sanctuary (June 28th, 2010), Belle has
improved greatly. She loves attention and being around
people - she is a very sweet and affectionate horse.
Information from the previous owner indicates that Belle
was once a show horse, but we have not yet evaluated her
under saddle. She handles well and is up to date on all
farrier, dental, and medical visits. Belle is a healthy horse,
but she is showing signs of a possible problem in one eye -
we are still in the evaluation stage of this, but it may be
re-occurant UV-itis. Also, because of the large amount of
time she spent in a stall at her previous home, she dislikes
being in a closed stall. She would do best with a run-in
shelter and someone who is willing to work with her issues
because she has trouble walking into confined spaces.
As with any other horse, Belle needs a home where there is
at least one other horse for her to be with. We have a very
strict NO breeding policy.
