Meet Red:
Red is a 22 yrs. old gelding. He is half Arabian / half Quarter Horse. He is sweet and
pretty mellow. He is great with other horses (loves the mares). He stands very well
for the ferrier, loads easily, and is a great companion to ride along on trail rides. He
loves to go last and keep an eye on the rest of the horses. He does not like to ride
by himself, but put him with another rider and he's ready to go. He does not like to
be stalled either (so not a good choice for 4-H). We leave our barn open so he has
access in and out as he wishes. His current herd is four goats. We have four children
in multiple sports and are not able to give Red the time and attention we would like
for him to have. Also, we would love for him to be with other horses to enjoy his
senior years. He does not like a bit, we use a hackmore and that suits him just fine.
He has not been ridden much in the last year, so he needs a little refresher (he's
become a bit spoiled). It wouldn't take much to get him back in form. My main
concern and desire is to find him a great home where he can live out his senior
years. Please call Bernadette for more information 614-804-9959.
Fancy is a 23 year old Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred. She has been trained in dressage,
with further training as an English hunter/jumper. She also has recreational western
skills. She came to us three years ago (for retirement as a companion horse) after
being used as a school horse for about 10 years. She has been barefoot for the past 3
years, receiving regular farrier care every 6-8 weeks.
She is up to date on shots, worming and teeth floating. Fancy has developed glaucoma in
both eyes. Her eye pressure is well-controlled with inexpensive eye drops that are
applied once per day and she tolerates very well. The vet believes she has mild arthritis
in her back, but she is independent and able to do all her horsey things for herself.
Due to my own arthritis I am not able to provide the quality of care Fancy deserves,
and my daughter’s new job does not allow her to spend enough time caring for her.
Fancy has excellent manners and has been a wonderful companion. She comes with
some tack and clothing, including blankets, fly masks and fly sheets. She is only
available as a retirement horse to a loving home who can treat her with the gentleness
that she needs. Fancy has been a wonderful addition to our family and we hope you will
love her just as much as we do.
